In my role as an Assistant Technical Officer in the stores area of Pharmacy, I take receipt of medicines from delivery drivers and make detailed notes of such things as how many items are received and their expiry dates, so it is important to always rotate stock as medication can be very expensive and this helps to prevent costly waste. I also load goods onto rollers so that when the dispensary staff need to complete prescriptions they have a ready supply of what they need.
I am involved in the bag run, which involves taking medicines to ward areas around the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. I dispose of out-of-date goods and follow strict procedures so that no sealed bag of date-expired drugs can be accessed by non-authorised individuals. I also accept individual deliveries and pass these on to the pharmacy that ordered them.
It is also very important that I clean the area regularly and ensure that the workplace is safe and tidy at all times.
