On a recent beach holiday, Learning Hub Tutor Michelle Watts helped to save the life of a man who had been pulled from the sea and was believed to be unconscious and not breathing.

She followed the ‘Stop, Think, Act’ procedure, took charge of the situation and performed CPR until a lifeguard arrived, followed by the Emergency Services who took over. She later found out that, thankfully, the man had survived.

Michelle teaches First Aid here at the Learning Hub. She says, “I can’t deny it was a scary experience. However, my training kicked in and it was a great feeling to know I was part of a team that was responsible for helping to save a life.”

It just goes to show, you never know when you might need your First Aid training!
